The Rise of AI-Driven Banking within ERP Systems

From Batch Finance to Real-Time Intelligence

On the main stage of the Swiss AI Summit 2025, Nadine Ebmeyer illustrated how deeply financial infrastructure is changing and why this shift is foundational for AI. Traditional batch-based banking processes were designed for a slower world and now limit automation, insight, and responsiveness.

In contrast, real-time, API-driven banking embedded directly into ERP systems enables financial data to flow continuously. This transition is already underway in Switzerland and accelerating even faster across the EU due to regulatory mandates.

Why AI Depends on Real-Time Data

Nadine emphasized that AI can only deliver meaningful results when it operates on clean, high-quality, real-time data. Event-driven banking enables immediate reconciliation, instant payments, real-time balances, and continuous liquidity insights - all of which unlock AI-driven forecasting and decision-making.

She demonstrated concrete use cases such as instant order release, automated reconciliation with massive efficiency gains, real-time fraud prevention through beneficiary verification, and AI-powered liquidity control.

Embedded Finance as the New Baseline

Beyond efficiency, embedded intelligence shifts finance teams from reactive reporting to proactive control. Regulatory tailwinds make this transition unavoidable: instant payments and API access are becoming mandatory, turning embedded finance from a competitive advantage into a baseline requirement for AI-ready organizations.
