The Evolution of the Ecosystem

From a Summit to an Ecosystem: how the Swiss AI Summit became Switzerland's neutral marketplace for trusted AI partnerships

As the third edition opens on 16 November 2026 at Kunsthaus Zürich under the theme Autonomy & Sovereignty, SWAIS shows that in AI, sovereignty is not built alone. It is built through trusted partners.

Zürich, 28 October 2026 – The Swiss AI Summit started as one premium day for decision-makers. From the launch of its first flagship event, founder Timea Nagy saw an ecosystem as the natural next step: a way to carry the Summit's momentum through the whole year. Three editions later, SWAIS stands on four pillars: the annual Summit, a year-round community of 1,000+ members with 12+ events a year, Swiss AI Magazine and the TRIANGLE podcast.

The model mirrors the AI landscape itself. SWAIS's partners and innovators push AI forward by orchestrating layers of the tech stack, from infrastructure and models to applications. The ecosystem works the same way: a micro-ecosystem in which each layer serves a different audience and strengthens the others. The result is a collaborative environment with a global outlook, built on synergy rather than competition.

Together they form a neutral marketplace, where government, industry and technology leaders meet, compare notes and choose their partners. The Summit is the most visible part. The ecosystem keeps the conversation going between editions and serves as a foundation where resources can be exchanged as a way of building resilience.

But in today’s climate, trust is the scarcest resource in the ecosystem, and it has to be earned. The founder of SWAIS, Timea Nagy articulated her founding vision: "I spent 14 years in data privacy and AI law, so I know trust can be measured. It has to be verifiable. We built a neutral marketplace where companies entering the Swiss market can do their entire strategy through our ecosystem. We design the outcome around their KPIs, and that is why our partners return every year. I wanted to build a safe environment, because for me the speakers and the quality are priority number one."

Trust you can measure

Trust in AI cannot be taken for granted in Switzerland. In the Ipsos AI Monitor 2025, half of Swiss respondents (50%) said they do not trust companies using AI to protect their personal data, and 77% want companies to disclose when they use AI. The same concern showed at the ballot box: in September 2025, the national e-ID passed with just 50.4% of the vote. In that climate, trust is the scarcest resource in the ecosystem, and it has to be earned.

Partner trust is how SWAIS builds and operates. The Summit, its flagship event, was the founding brand promise SWAIS made to its ecosystem partners.

Senior leaders take part because the room is safe and carefully curated. More than 60% of participants come from industry, so the Summit shows where AI adoption really stands across financial services, healthcare and manufacturing. Partners return every year.

“The Swiss AI Summit is where our community gathers once a year,” said Timea Nagy. “But government, industry and tech too often decide alone, and that is where trust erodes. So we bring them to one table all year round, from workshops to satellite events, where every partner has a voice. That is where they learn from each other.”

Who we are welcoming and who is in the room

  • Government and defence: high-level government representatives and the Swiss Armed Forces. This year, that table expands to include delegations from France, Canada, Italy, Austria and Estonia, joining the Summit for the first time.
  • Industry: leading Swiss banks and insurers, hospitals and manufacturing leaders, alongside RUAG and Swisscom. More than 60% of participants come from industry.
  • Technology and research: partners including IBM, NTT Data, NVIDIA, Oracle and QuantumBasel, with Innosuisse and Venture Leaders as ecosystem partners.

80% of participants are senior leaders: executives, heads and leads.

"When the first delegation approached us, I thought: this is such a good idea," said Timea Nagy, Founder & CEO of SWAIS. "This international collaboration has to exist. Talking with different countries, you immediately realize the importance of governance and of international cooperation."

A day built on four blocks

The programme runs across four industry blocks, with cross-industry topics such as cybersecurity. The theme was chosen through surveys of attendees and community members.

  • Business & Strategy: conversations on how organisations adapt, compete and lead in a fast-changing environment. Speakers share strategic perspectives on transformation, leadership and the future of work. This year the block also covers geopolitics, the global vision and the race to space.
  • Financial Services & Insurance (FSI): insights from banking, fintech and insurance on how the financial sector is evolving. Discussions explore new models, emerging trends and the shifts redefining financial services.
  • Healthcare & Medtech: a look at how healthcare is moving forward through new thinking and new technologies. Speakers discuss progress in care, innovation models and the future of medical systems.
  • Manufacturing: perspectives on the future of production, automation and industrial competitiveness. Leaders share experiences from factories, supply chains and global manufacturing operations.

"One industry should learn from the other," said Timea Nagy. "And people should start realizing the importance of what is happening geopolitically. The panel discussions on our third edition's agenda should set the scene for 2027, including within a geopolitical context."

Sovereignty creates dependencies. Trust makes them work.

The 2026 theme reflects a question every leader now faces. As the SWAIS Manifesto puts it: "Sovereignty does not mean isolation. It means the freedom to choose."

That freedom has limits. As Swissinfo reported in November 2025, true AI sovereignty would require control over chips, power and data at every level of the supply chain. "This is completely impossible for a small country like Switzerland," said Marcel Salathé of EPFL. Researchers are instead proposing alliances: a "federation of sovereign AIs" from Aldo Faisal of Imperial College London, and an "Airbus for AI" initiative. "No country can compete with Big Tech alone," said Joshua Tan, one of its initiators. "The only way to do that is to unite."

The question is no longer whether organisations can eliminate dependency. It is whether they can manage dependencies consciously, transparently and with partners they trust. The same holds for physical communities: their strength is measured not by who claims independence, but by who builds the most trusted network.

That is why neutral spaces where partners can meet and build trust matter more than ever.

"Switzerland’s strength in AI lies in its partnerships. Sovereignty is the freedom to choose your partners, not working in isolation. That is why international collaboration and cooperation matter so much this year. SWAIS is Europe’s leading premium AI ecosystem, now expanding internationally. Together, we are shaping how Switzerland leads in responsible, innovative, and connected AI," said Timea Nagy.

What's next

The SWAIS ecosystem is evolving and expanding internationally as a recognized premium ecosystem. Demand keeps growing from both B2B and B2C members. Timea Nagy is now working with her research and development team to close that gap, and the next chapter already has a name: the SWAIS platform. More details will follow soon.
