Prof. Dr. Thomas Bocek – Professor of Software Architecture at OST

Prof. Dr. Thomas Bocek is a professor of Software Architecture at OST – Ostschweizer Fachhochschule, working at the intersection of distributed systems, decentralized infrastructures, and applied AI systems.

He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Zurich, where he worked in the Communication Systems Group on peer-to-peer and distributed systems, and a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Zurich. His academic foundation lies in scalable networked systems, with a strong focus on decentralized communication architectures.

His work focuses on designing and engineering scalable, resilient systems that operate in real-world environments. This includes expertise in peer-to-peer networks, blockchain architectures, and software systems for distributed environments. More recently, he has been involved in applied AI initiatives, including AI agents for property brokerage workflows and data vault–based systems for structured extraction, planning, and intelligent data access.

Across these domains, his focus is on translating complex system architectures into practical, deployable solutions that integrate into operational workflows. This includes bridging classical distributed systems engineering with emerging AI-driven system design.

At OST, he combines research and teaching with a strong emphasis on implementation-oriented system thinking, preparing students and practitioners to build robust, scalable, and production-ready software systems.
