Marcel started his IT career in 1987 at Bank Julius Baer and worked for the first decade in software development for the banking industry. Before joining Microsoft in May 2003 as a Technology Specialist for the financial sector, Marcel worked for software companies such as Sun Microsystems (Java Evangelism), Viador (Portal and BI startup) and divine interventures.

Between 2008 and 2016, Marcel was in the role of the global technology strategist at Microsoft globally dedicated to ABB. In this role Marcel was part of the Microsoft ABB core team as Global Technology Strategist the main goal is to help ABB realize the highest value out of the software and understand the direction of it.

After that Marcel was at SAP Switzerland in the Solutions Business Development with a focus on Internet-of-Things based cases. As of March 2018 Marcel was promoted into a business architect role with focus on the manufacturing industrial vertical, to help customers establish, build and achieve their visions on the digital business transformation journey through improved business processes and innovations.

As of November 2019, Marcel joined Google as part of the Google Cloud Platform Customer Engineering with a prime focus on the retail & CPG industries. As part of his role he's mainly focused on helping customers realize value in their digital transformation and shift to the cloud with modernizing their infrastructure and application landscape also including SAP landscapes shifting to cloud and augmenting these with cloud capabilities like data driven intelligence. He is excited to bring the technology capabilities and innovation into the business context and enable the end-to-end business process thinking across the full value chain including the broader ecosystem in a hybrid, multi-cloud landscape.
