Dr. Stefan Neumann is a lecturer at the Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences (OST) in St. Gallen, where he teaches at the Banking and Finance Competence Center of the Institute for Finance and Law. His areas of expertise include digital assets, compliance and corporate governance, anti-money laundering, and the application of artificial intelligence in finance.
Before joining academia, Dr. Neumann spent over 20 years in senior management at a large global bank in Switzerland and abroad, focusing on strategic transformation, compliance management, anti-money laundering, and non-financial risk and controls. Earlier in his career, he worked for global Big-5 consulting firms in Germany and Switzerland and previously held academic and entrepreneurial roles in Karlsruhe.
He holds a PhD in Economic and Social Sciences and an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Technical University of Karlsruhe. Dr. Neumann is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS) and a Certified Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma.
