Alfonso Gómez is the CEO of HSBC’s Swiss Private Bank and Country Head of HSBC Switzerland.

He is also Vice Chair of the Association of Foreign Banks in Switzerland and Board Member of the Swiss Finance Institute.

Alfonso’s career has spanned New York, London, Madrid, and Switzerland, and over 30 years in the industry. Prior to joining HSBC, Alfonso worked for BBVA, holding number of leadership positions including CEO of Switzerland, Director of Global Private Banking, and Head of the Private Bank for Spain and Portugal, and UK Country Head. He started his career in corporate banking and trade finance.

Alfonso’s professional journey has been guided by a passion for rethinking how financial services can better serve clients through technology, creativity, and a deep understanding of international markets. He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with executive training from IESE, Singularity University, and MIT. In his spare time, he is an avid reader and endurance sports enthusiast.
