Rui Duarte is a Senior AI Governance Advisor and Ambassador of the Swiss AI Summit, where he bridges the gap between those who build technology and those who must govern it. As a member of the World in 2050 Brain Trust (Diplomatic Courier) and a key contributor to the GAFAI Policy & Regulation Executive Office, he is at the forefront of shaping the shared rules for responsible Artificial Intelligence globally.
Currently serving as the Managing Director of Loop Future Switzerland (DACH), Rui operates at the intersection of business, technology, and international policy. He is a Faculty Professor at the EU Business School in Geneva, lecturing on Diplomacy and Ethics, and is the author of the forthcoming book, Statecraft 3.0: The Age of AI Diplomacy.
With over 15 years of experience across the public and private sectors, including time as an elected Member of Parliament, Rui has worked extensively with intergovernmental bodies such as the United Nations, the European Commission, and the African Union. A global speaker on AI ethics and diplomacy, he is dedicated to turning high-level intentions into actionable real-world policies.
Rui holds a Master’s degree in Political Economy from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a Bachelor’s in International Relations from the University of Coimbra.
